Our congratulations go to Tomas McIlroy for receiving the top Librarian Award at Prizegiving on 13th December 2013

Tomas is one of our most dedicated librarians and he has taken this role very seriously.

He has achieved all certificate levels from bronze, silver through to our highest level gold in a very short space of time.

He has been instrumental in training our new librarians and has been a huge help to teachers during their class library time, by issuing & returning books.

I hope that Tomas will continue to be a librarian next year as he is a role model and inspiration to others.

New Learning Centre

Our Grand opening of the new Learning Centre

On Wednesday 20th November 2013 Oratia hosted a powhiri inviting Kaumatu Fred Holloway to bless the new building.

It was wonderful to see so many parents and family members show up for this occasion.

Nathan Cave & Zakira Masiasomua did the honors in cutting the ribbon

Sofya Countanche Gould is another one of our Super Stars.  She has just completed her Silver certificate level.  Congratulations!

Jorja Stearman-Gregory from room 18 just completed her Bronze certificate level today.  Great Stuff!

We are proud to announce that we have another Gold certificate achiever.  Sophie Wheeler has been a very dedicated librarian and has been working  hard to reach her Gold status.  Well done Sophie!

Maori Language Week

Oratia would like to recommend the following books which are currently in our library.

Fifiteen ancient Maori stories are retold by storyteller Annie Rae Ake Ake and illustrated by nineteen artists from New Zealand secondary schools.

A retelling of the Maori creation legend Bold design and brief text introduce the story of the children of Rangi and Papa as they try to separate their parents and bring light to the world.
